📣Argentina🇦🇷: With the latest updates, in which provinces is online gambling regulated❓
In Argentina, online gambling is governed under a federal system, meaning there are 24 independent regulatory authorities: one for each province, plus the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. There is no unified national law regulating the sector, so providers must comply with the local regulations of each jurisdiction, which are responsible for issuing licenses and defining specific requirements.
➡️ According to the Association of State Lotteries, Casinos and Betting (ALEA), as of May 2025, online gambling and sports betting are regulated in the following 20 jurisdictions:
Buenos Aires Province, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Chaco, Chubut, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, Jujuy, La Pampa, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, San Luis, Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, and Tucumán.
➡️ These jurisdictions are part of ALEA and promote the official bet.ar domain to identify authorized platforms approved by the respective state lotteries.
➡️ In contrast, in Salta, Santiago del Estero, and Tierra del Fuego, online gambling is not regulated and therefore prohibited.
➡️ San Juan is currently in a regulatory implementation stage: the legal framework has been approved, but it is not yet in effect, as specific regulations are still being drafted and reviewed.
➡️In these four jurisdictions without a current legal framework, operators offering unlicensed services face prison sentences ranging from 3 to 6 years, under applicable criminal laws.
