🤔 Argentina 🇦🇷: regulator changes its stance on Bitcoin

The National Securities Commission (CNV) has reconsidered its position on BTC and the crypto industry, having previously been against it. The new perspective was evident during the Tech Forum for cryptocurrencies held on October 19 in Buenos Aires, which was attended by regulators and even the president.

⏩ The CNV is seeking industry input on proposals for the future registration of virtual asset service providers (VASP), aiming to align the Argentine crypto sector with the standards of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

⏩ A CNV official mentioned that they are "working on guidelines for 'tokenization of assets'", starting with security tokens and later including real-world assets (RWA).

⏩ Recently, the regulator permitted companies to establish themselves using crypto assets (BTC and USDT) as part of their share capital.

Context: Amid an inflation rate of 101.6%, many Argentines are turning to cryptocurrencies to safeguard their savings. USDT is the top choice for 6 in 10 users, though BTC remains a strong secondary option.
