🆘Argentina🇦🇷: in Santa Fe province, court orders freezing of accounts linked to illegal online gambling

The investigation found approximately USD 1.3 million in cryptocurrency in electronic accounts, allegedly obtained illegally.

▶️The case began in May 2024, when the executive branch of Santa Fe province filed a lawsuit against 385 online betting sites. Among those named were three companies with Brazilian🇧🇷 capital: Transfero Pagamento S.A., Transfero SRL, and Bluegreen S.A., allegedly used to move funds from illegal gambling operations.

▶️A second lawsuit was later filed by a provincial land-based casino, claiming damages from the activities of unauthorized online operators.

▶️The case currently involves 7 individuals accused of “organizing gambling without authorization”: five Argentine citizens and two Brazilian nationals.

▶️Context: here we recently published the list of Argentine provinces where gambling is regulated and where it is not.

In the Santa Fe case, the seizure of funds will not be the only outcome. The proceedings are ongoing, and further legal actions are expected.
