📢Anti-fraud measures: MercadoPago to introduce dynamic CVV to boost online shopping security

By the end of August, the fintech giant will roll out a dynamic verification code (CVV) for its Visa credit cards. The tool aims to prevent user data from being stored on websites and to stop unauthorized charges.

➡️ The measure will apply in all countries where MercadoPago operates: Argentina🇦🇷, Brazil🇧🇷, Chile🇨🇱, Colombia🇨🇴, Mexico🇲🇽, Peru🇵🇪 and Uruguay🇺🇾.

➡️ The CVV will update every 5 minutes, preventing card reuse after transactions.

➡️ Visa cardholders using MercadoPago will receive the codes directly in the mobile app, under the section “About your digital card”. Previously, only the card number and expiration date were displayed.

➡️Context: MercadoPago was created in 2003 in Argentina as a complement to Mercado Libre’s e-commerce platform, but quickly grew into a standalone payment ecosystem. Recently, it entered into a strategic partnership with PayPal World to strengthen its position in international payments and transfers.
