#Africa: Coinbase with its regional partners will promote crypto adoption in Africa💰
Thanks to the partnership with regional exchange solution Yellow Card, citizens from 20 countries will be able to trade crypto on Coinbase — that is, at least one billion people!
🔣 Africa is not called "the youngest continent" for nothing: almost 60% of the population is under 25 years old…— the same segment that is most involved in cryptocurrencies. In this context, it is understood how Yellow Card — the region's leading online platform that allows the exchange of all types of crypto — has managed to acquire nearly 1.4 million users.
🔣 SMEs are expected to benefit the most from digitization in this format: they often face obstacles when opening accounts in dollars and euros.
🔣 USDC will be mainly used, as its volatility is much lower than that of local currencies. Coinbase wallet users will be able to send funds for free to any platform where a link can be shared.
🔣 The countries that use cryptocurrencies the most are Kenya🇰🇪 (GDP 110.3 billion USD), Nigeria🇳🇬 (GDP 440.8 billion USD), and South Africa🇿🇦 (GDP 419 billion USD).
Russia🇷🇺 also has Africa in mind when it comes to cryptocurrencies: many have already seen the news that BitCluster plans to launch a data mining center in Ethiopia🇪🇹. There are different arguments for and against, including those related to the poor state of the energy infrastructure... But that's a completely different topic.
